THE SCOPE OF THIS ARTICLE
This help desk article deals with the following Headers and Links design items indicated by the turquoise boxes in the images below:
Show filter names
Filters (options depend on your integration)
Filters controls
See your integration details below:
No matter which integration you are in, working with these design items follows the same process. So, we will do one example and hope it is sufficient. If not, please reach out for help via the chat on our website (look in the lower, left-hand corner of our home page).
Before we begin...
What is that thing in the brown box below?
The icon in the brown box above is the Filters Toggle Switch. It allows your ministry members to do their own filtering. For example, your calendar view shows ALL the events there are. Your members can toggle on the Filters Toggle Switch and mix and match filters. As a result, they will only see the events which are relevant to them.
There is a relationship between the filters your ministry members will see and any filters you chose in Setup. If you did not choose any filters in Setup, your members will see all the options of the filters relevant to your integration. If you chose some filters in Setup, then they will only see the filters you chose. Here is an example:
IN SETUP...
If we open the dropdown menu for this filter option, we see that we can choose All Tags (default) or one or more of the other three. IN SETUP, we choose the default - All Tags.
| |
Thus, when a ministry member toggles on the Filters Toggle Switch, they will see all the options under the Tags filter. |
|
This time, IN SETUP, we decide to choose only one of the tags: DCE. |
|
Thus, when a ministry member toggles on the Filters Toggle Switch, they will see only this option under the Tags filter. |
To find these design items
| Step 1: After you log in, open Widgets. |
| Step 2: Click on Calendars.
The Your Calendars page will open. |
Step 2: Choose the calendar or events list you wish to modify | |
Step 4: Scroll down and click on Headers and links. |
What you will see depends on your integration. Reminder:
Working with these design items
The video below gives an example of how these two Headers and Links items interact [Show filter names & Filters (options depend on your integration) ]
SHOW FILTER NAMES
These are the filters you chose in Setup. If you did not choose any filters, there will be nothing to show even if you toggle on the Show filter names button.
In the image below, Show filter names is toggled off (greyed out, brown box in image below). As a result, nothing appears at the top of the calendar (brown arrow in image below).
For this example, we chose the following filters in the Setup of this integration:
In the image below, Show filter names is toggled on (blue color, gold box in image below). As a result, the filters chosen in Setup appear at the top of the calendar (gold arrow in image below).
Click Save at the bottom of the column to save your changes.
FILTERS
Please remember that your options under Filters depend on your integration.
In the image below, all the filters are toggled off (greyed out, brown box below). As a result, nothing is displayed above the month / year.
Notice that in the image below, the Tags selector is toggled on (blue color). As a result, the Filters toggle switch icon (box with lines in it) appears above the month / year (black box, black arrow below).
Clicking on the Filters toggle switch opens an action bar (black arrow below). The items on the action bar = the filters you have toggled on (blue color, black box below). In the image below, all the filters are toggled on. As a result, both filter options appear on the action bar.
Simply toggle on/off the filters you wish your viewers to see on the action bar.
Click Save at the bottom of the column to save your changes.
โ
If you want your filters to be automatically displayed (so your people do not have to toggle on the Filters Toggle Switch), toggle on Expand filters by default. In the example below, the filter 'Tags' automatically displays below the month and year.
If you wish to have a label next to the Filters Toggle Switch, just toggle on Show label next to filters button.
The default label is Filters but you can change it by typing your choice on the entry line. We have changed it to New Name.
Colors not to your liking? Scroll down to the Navigation section --> Filters subsection and change them.
