Welcome to the Mailchimp email template builder

We're excited to introduce our new email template feature for alpha testing!

As a tester, please note that this version is still in development, and some features may not work as expected or could break. We value your feedback to help us improve and refine this tool.

In the future, our goal is to eliminate the need to navigate through an existing calendar. You’ll be able to create email embed codes for Mailchimp and potentially other email applications, with the ability to save these codes for reuse. We aim to provide a robust solution tailored for churches, helping you save time and reduce hassle.

If you're comfortable with alpha testing and contributing to the development of a valuable tool, we’d love your input. However, if you prefer stable products, this might not be the right opportunity for you.

Thank you for your support and collaboration!

Quick Steps to Access the Mailchimp Alpha Testing Email Template

STEP 1: Integrate with Display.Church

If you have already integrated with Display.Church, move on to Step 2.

If you have not already done so, you need to tell Display.Church where to pull in your data from. The way to do this is via an integration with Breeze, Google Calendar, Planning Center (PCO), or Pushpay/CCB (CCB).

THE BREEZE INTEGRATION PROCESS

THE GOOGLE CALENDAR (GCal) INTEGRATION PROCESS

THE PLANNING CENTER (PCO) INTEGRATION PROCESS

THE PUSHPAY/CCB INTEGRATION PROCESS

STEP 2: Create a New Calendar

  • Navigate to your calendars and create a new one (see blue arrow in image below). We recommend choosing the weekly view template for the best results.

STEP 3: Set Up your Calendar

  • Set the basic options and design, including the number of events to display.

STEP 4: Publish and Install the Template

4a. Click the Install tab.(blue box in image below).

4b. Make sure the Publish button is toggled on -- it will turn blue (yellow box in image below).

4c. Choose the Mailchimp option for template customization (blue arrow in image below).

4d. Then click Next (yellow arrow in image above).

STEP 5: Select Display Options

  • Use the Preview tab (see image below). Choose the settings for your Mailchimp email template.

NOTE: Method to show events

There are two options: Static (one-time) and Evergreen (recurring).

Both options start with your calendar defaults. Depending on the option you choose, you will be presented with more events control possibilities to further filter the events your people will see.

Why choose one option or the other?

Option 1: Static (one-time)
This option will produce the same newsletter each time. Use cases: one-time or non-repeating events or event series such as Winter Concert, Easter program, 6-week Bible Study.

Option 2: Evergreen (recurring)
This option will produce an updated newsletter each time. Use cases: what's happening this week, featured events this month, kids at church.

STEP 6: Copy HTML Code

  • Click on the Copy template button to copy the HTML code provided for the template (see yellow arrow in image above). You will paste this code into Mailchimp.

NOTE: At the moment, your email template settings are not saved. We plan to improve this in the future. So, when you click Finish, they will be erased.

STEP 7: In Mailchimp, customize as needed

  • Paste the copied Display.Church HTML code into your Mailchimp email template.

  • Adjust the template settings, including titles, dates, colors, and display preferences.

Please note:

STEP 8: Preview and Test

  • Use the preview function to check how the email will appear, and send yourself a test email to confirm everything works.

STEP 9: Provide Feedback
