Here is how to create calendars in Google Calendar. Then add events to those calendars, and enrich your events with images.

First step is a Google Account.

If you already have a Google account and use Gmail, just click on the 9 dots icon next to your thumbnail and choose Google Calendar.

If you don’t already have a free Google account, just go to the Google account sign in page and create one. You do not need to have Gmail to do this. You can use your non-Gmail email address. Once you have created your account and are signed in, click near the top right-hand corner on Google Apps menu (9 dots icon) and choose Calendar.

You can also bookmark the direct access: calendar.google.com.

Once inside Google Calendar

Once you are in, you can create your calendars. We recommend creating different calendars for different needs. Think of it like tags, campuses, groups, or locations. You can create one calendar for each item.

  • For example: one calendar for all your public events and another one for your private events.

  • If you have several campuses or locations, you can create a separate event calendar for each.

  • Since calendars are easy to add, you can always add calendars later on.

To create a new calendar

From inside Google Calendar, scroll down the left-hand side to locate Other Calendars.

Click on the + (blue arrow in image to the left).

Choose Create new calendar.

Complete the form and click Create calendar.

To create an event

Locate the Create button in the top, left corner of your webpage.

Click on it.

Choose Event from the dropdown menu.

Complete the form and click Save to confirm your actions.

To add an image to your event

Display.Church is set up to pull in images as attachments from Google Calendar. You can add images to new events. You can also return to existing events (like ones which repeat) and add an image.
